The 2009-2010 officers for the St. Tim’s Episcopal Church Women will be installed during the services this Sunday, October 25. All Saints’ Day will be celebrated at both 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship services on Sunday, November 1. If you have names of saints who have died and you would like remembered in the service, please contact Libby Craven (765-0294 or libby@sttimothys.ws) by Friday, October 23.

learn—Learn to Read Music

For many people, music notation is a mystery. Join Director of Music Ministries Christin Barnhardt on Monday evenings in November to learn some music reading basics that will help you sing hymns in church or anthems in choir with more confidence. Please come to the chapel 6-7:15 p.m. on November 2, 9, 16 and 23.

 

learn—Women’s Sunday School Class

All women are invited to the Women’s Sunday School Class this Sunday, October 25, 9:15-10:15 a.m. as they continue the study Acts: From Maintenance to Mission by the Rev. Canon C.K. Robertson and the Rev. Susan D. Snook. Meeting in the ECW Hall, this study will continue for six weeks. You may print the study by clicking  http://thescp.org/documents/ACTSStudyGuide.pdf. The family of Margaret Ketchie would like to thank the St. Timothy’s family of friends for the wonderful show of love and support at the time of her death and at the service in the chapel on October 16. Mike Ketchie, Melanie Carlson, Tina and Alex Stearns and Carolyn Ketchie were so touched by the number of people who came to honor her memory.

Book Club will meet this Sunday, October 25 at noon in the ECW Hall to discuss three books by Garrett Keizer: A Dresser of Sycamore Trees, The Enigma of Anger and Help: The Original Human Dilemma. Please bring a bag lunch to enjoy the fellowship. Contact Jeanne Bohrer (768-9125).

Don’t forget to get your costume ready for the St. Timothy’s Annual Halloween Carnival! Come enjoy the fellowship, fun and food on Wednesday, October 28, 5:15-7 p.m. in Drake Hall. Regular Bible study classes and children’s choirs will not meet on Wednesday so everyone can participate. Who will you recognize?

Everyone is invited to enjoy a great home-cooked, hot breakfast served each Sunday, 8:30-9:15 a.m. in Drake Hall. For a $4 donation, you get fellowship with your church family in a spiritually uplifting environment! Also everyone is invited to attend the Wednesday Fellowship meal served each Wednesday, 5:45-6:30 p.m. in Drake Hall. For a $6 adult and $3 child donation, you will receive a varied meal including an entrée with vegetables, salad and dessert. Please join your Christian brothers and sisters in parish fellowship this week. For more information, contact the church office.

 

connect—Women's Retreat

The St. Timothy’s Women’s retreat is an annual event where all the wonderful women of our parish are invited to attend a gathering for fellowship, spiritual growth and rejuvenation. The retreat for 2010 will be held February 5-7, 2010 at the Laurel Ridge Camp, Conference and Retreat Center located near West Jefferson, North Carolina. Christie Barker, a Deacon at Trinity Episcopal in Statesville, will facilitate our retreat and teach us about important women in Christian history using prayer, Bible study and small group activities. If you are interested in more details about the 2010 retreat, please print a registration form here, fill it out and return it to the church with $100 deposit. And as a convenience to you, you can register online here and make your payment right here, too! A Women’s Retreat information table will be located outside Drake Hall during Wednesday night dinner and Sunday morning breakfast. serve—United Thank Offering

The United Thank Offering, sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women, will be accepted on Sunday, November 1 at both services. Please take one of the blue and white UTO boxes or envelopes located throughout the church. Use the container to collect your donations given in recognition of God’s blessings in your life. And don’t forget to bring your gifts on November 1 (or earlier).

 

serve—Operation Sharehouse

Operation Sharehouse will return to Drake Hall this Saturday, October 24, 9-11 a.m. to package 15,000 meals for the underprivileged. At least 15 more volunteers are needed to reach our goal. serve—Thank You for Food Bank Support

The food drive coordinated by St. Timothy’s and Holy Family Catholic Church during the Bring & Sing raised an incredible 3,089 pounds of food for Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC. Because of your generosity, many hungry people who visit the partner agencies of the Food Bank will have food on their tables.

Please watch for the Alternative Christmas III display in Drake Hall on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. ACIII gives you opportunities to make donations to charities as Christmas gifts for loved ones. Contact Brooke Suiter (760-4045).

The Crisis Control Gift of the Month for October is toilet tissue. You may bring your donations to the shelves in Drake Hall or to the box in the volunteer office in Gribbin building.

CHILDREN’S NEWS ...

LEARN—This Sunday, October 25, the preschoolers and primary school-aged children gather at 9:15 a.m. in the Chapel for singing before being dismissed with their teachers to their classes. At 10:15 a.m. the preschool children move to room C2 for Preschool Worship and the primary children attend Children’s Chapel in the chapel. The primary children enter church at the 10:30 a.m. offertory to join their parents. Preschool children meet their parents at the 10:30 a.m. communion hymns in the pews. All children are welcomed at anytime for Sunday School and worship! Contact Pam Carter (pam@sttimothys.ws).

 

LEARN—Wednesday night classes begin with the Way of the Child program for K-2nd grades meeting at 5:15-6 p.m. in room C-2. Families will eat dinner together, 6-6:30 p.m. then the 3rd-5th graders have their Way of the Child class at 6:30-7:15 p.m. in room C-2 and the preschoolers will have Bible in Action in room C-3, 6:30-7:15 p.m. Contact Pam Carter (pam@sttimothys.ws).

 

LEARN—Children’s Choirs meet each Wednesday with the 3rd-5th graders meeting 5:15-6 p.m. and the K-2 graders meet 6:30-7:15 p.m. Both groups meet in the choir room. Contact Christin Barnhardt (765-0294 or christin@sttimothys.ws.)

 

LEARN—Music Class, God’s Children Sing!, for infants through preschoolers is offered weekly on Tuesdays, 1 p.m. in C-2. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend. Register by contacting Christin Barnhardt (christin@sttimothys.ws).

 

SERVE—Club 54 for fourth and fifth graders will meet this Sunday, October 25 at 4 p.m. in Gribbin Library for announcements, Spiritual Chat and information about their upcoming service project: Pennies from Heaven. Then the kids will move to Drake Hall to carve pumpkins with the middle school EYC. Pleas bring a pumpkin and a few sheets of newspaper to help with the mess. Dinner will be served. YOUTH NEWS ...

LEARNSunday School for middle schoolers meets in room D-3 in Drake Hall while the high schoolers meet on the Drake stage, both at 9:15-10:15 a.m. for biblical-based discussion. All youth in 6th-12th grades are invited to attend and bring friends.

 

LEARN—The youth in 6th-12th grades are invited to meet each Wednesday in room D-1 in Drake at 6:30-7:30 p.m. for discussion based on the Bible’s lectionary selections.

 

LEARN—EYC for the youth in 6th-12th grades this Sunday, October 25 will have the 6th-8th graders meeting at 4:30-6 p.m. and the 9th-12th graders meeting at 5:30-7:15 p.m. Both groups will be craving pumpkins. Bobby will provide the youth with a pumpkin for $5 with prior reservation. E-mail or call him TODAY. The youth are urged to bring their own craving tools as Bobby has a limited supply.

 

WORSHIP—All high school youth are invited to meet every Friday, 7:30-8 a.m. for Prayer Breakfast at Chick-fil-A off Knollwood Street in Thruway Shopping Center. Devotion begins at 7:55 a.m.
