This Sunday’s worship services in the church will include a solemn chanting of the departed. The 10:30 a.m. service will also include a solemn procession and three baptisms. Make plans to attend this special day to worship God. Please remember to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night so you’ll arrive on time for services.

Beginning Wednesday, November 18, the Wednesday Holy Eucharist with Healing Prayer Service will move from 9:30 a.m. to NOON each Wednesday in the chapel. Please mark your calendars for this important change.

For many people, music notation is a mystery. Join Director of Music Ministries Christin Barnhardt on Monday evenings in November to learn some music reading basics that will help you sing hymns in church or anthems in choir with more confidence. Please come to the chapel 6-7:15 p.m. on November 2, 9, 16 and 23.

connect—Halloween Carnival
Come celebrate All Hallow’s Eve at St. Timothy’s TONIGHT from 5:15-7 p.m. in Drake Hall. There will be hot dogs, face painting, games, a cake walk and costume contest. Club 54 for 4th and 5th graders will be holding a Bake Sale to raise money for their Pennies from Heaven campaign which will benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Winston-Salem.

Everyone is invited to enjoy a great home-cooked, hot breakfast served each Sunday, 8:30-9:15 a.m. in Drake Hall. For a $4 donation, you get fellowship with your church family in a spiritually uplifting environment! Also everyone is invited to attend the Wednesday Fellowship meal served each Wednesday, 5:45-6:30 p.m. in Drake Hall. For a $6 adult and $3 child donation, you will receive a varied meal including an entrée with vegetables, salad and dessert. connect—Women's Retreat
The St. Timothy’s Women’s retreat is an annual event where all the wonderful women of our parish are invited to attend a gathering for fellowship, spiritual growth and rejuvenation. The retreat for 2010 will be held February 5-7, 2010 at the Laurel Ridge Camp, Conference and Retreat Center located near West Jefferson, North Carolina. Christie Barker, a Deacon at Trinity Episcopal in Statesville, will facilitate our retreat and teach us about important women in Christian history using prayer, Bible study and small group activities. If you are interested in more details about the 2010 retreat, please print a registration form here, fill it out and return it to the church with $100 deposit. A Women’s Retreat information table will be located outside Drake Hall during Wednesday night dinner and Sunday morning breakfast. Deadline to register has been extended to Sunday, December 6. The United Thank Offering, sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women, will be accepted this Sunday, November 1 at both services. The 127th annual meeting of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of North Carolina will be held on November 6 and 7 at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Raleigh. The theme will be “Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread; Fighting Hunger in Our Own Backyard.” For complete information, go to www.ecw-nc.org. St. Tim’s will have delegates attending.

On Sunday, November 8 at noon in ECW Hall, Sara Skinner will be the guest speaker at the Episcopal Church Women’s luncheon. Her presentation will be “South Africa—My Peace Corps Township Experience”. Salad and beverages will be provided. All women are invited to bring a dessert or main dish to share.

serve—Volunteers Needed for Samaritan Inn
St. Tim’s will be providing overnight shelter volunteers at the Samaritan Inn—a shelter near downtown serving homeless men—on seven nights, November 15-21. Volunteers, who can be male or female, must be age 17 or older. Please check your calendar to see if you are available any of those nights. serve—Operation Sharehouse Followup
Many thanks to the more than 60 parishioners who came to Drake Hall on the rainy Saturday morning, October 24 to participate in the Operation Sharehouse event. Our group was joined by about 25 Duke University Alumni Association members, and together we prepared 20,122 packages—each of which will feed six hungry people—in just two hours. The morning was a remarkable intergenerational occasion, hectic and fun, to meet a pressing world need.

CHILDREN’S NEWS ...
LEARN—This Sunday, November 1, the preschoolers and primary school-aged children gather at 9:15 a.m. in the Chapel for singing before being dismissed with their teachers to their classes. At 10:15 a.m. the preschool children move to room C2 for Preschool Worship and the primary children attend Children’s Chapel in the chapel. The primary children enter church at the 10:30 a.m. offertory to join their parents. Preschool children enter to meet their parents in the pews at the 10:30 a.m. communion hymns. LEARN—TONIGHT’S Wednesday night classes will not meet due to the Halloween Carnival but will resume next Wednesday, November 4 with the Way of the Child program for K-2nd grades meeting at 5:15-6 p.m. in room C-2. Families will eat dinner together, 6-6:30 p.m. then the 3rd-5th graders have their Way of the Child class at 6:30-7:15 p.m. in room C-2 and the preschoolers will have Bible in Action in room C-3, 6:30-7:15 p.m. Contact Pam Carter (pam@sttimothys.ws).

SERVE—Would you like your child to participate in the Children’s Christmas Pageant at 5:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve in the church? LEARN—Sunday School for middle schoolers meets in room D-3 in Drake Hall while the high schoolers meet on the Drake stage, both at 9:15-10:15 a.m. for biblical-based discussion. All youth in 6th-12th grades are invited to attend and bring friends.
LEARN—The youth in 6th-12th grades are invited to meet each Wednesday in room D-1 in Drake at 6:30-7:30 p.m. for discussion based on the Bible’s lectionary selections. The class WILL NOT MEET TONIGHT due to the Halloween Carnival.
LEARN—EYC for the youth in 6th-12th grades this Sunday, November 1 will meet together 5-7 p.m. in Drake Hall for combined fun and games.
WORSHIP—All high school youth are reminded that Prayer Breakfast WILL NOT MEET this Friday but are invited to meet every Friday, 7:30-8 a.m. resuming November 6 at Chick-fil-A off Knollwood Street in Thruway Shopping Center. Devotion begins at 7:55 a.m.
SERVE—Youth Music holds practice in Drake Hall each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. If you are in 6th-12th grades, play an instrument or sing and would like to help lead music in youth gatherings and occasionally in worship, please attend.
