learn—All Adults Meet in Drake Hall Sunday
All the adults will meet in Drake Hall on Sunday, November 22 and 29 at 9:15 a.m. for parish activities. On November 22, you will have the opportunity to bid during the Youth Servant Auction. It will be fun and interactive. On November 29, Advent Wreath Workshop for everyone will take place in Drake Hall. You won’t want to miss this great seasonal event. Regular adult Sunday School classes will resume on December 6 at 9:15 a.m. The class meeting in room D1 is studying Max Lucado’s “In the Eye of the Storm.” The women’s class meeting in ECW Hall will be on Chapter 11 of their study on Acts. Church Chat meets in Drake Hall for interactive Bible study on the weekly Gospel reading. You are invited to join these groups at anytime.

serve—Angel Trees To Be in Drake Lobby
The Episcopal Church Women’s Angel Trees will be located in the lobby of Drake Hall beginning this Sunday. One tree is decorated with gift tags for Senior Services while the other tree is decorated with tags for Guardian ad Litem children. Senior Services uses the items to help the senior citizens of the community throughout the year. Guardian ad Litem children have been placed with grandparents or other relatives by the court system because their parents are unavailable to take care of them. To participate, take a tag, purchase the item listed and return the tag with the unwrapped gift to the tree by noon on December 13. CROP Hunger Walk donations benefiting Crisis Control Ministry are just $131 short of last year’s donations. If you still would like to make a donation, make a check payable to St. Tim’s, designate CROP Walk and place in the offering plate or return to the church office.

worship—Community Thanksgiving Service
Please mark your calendars to attend the Community Thanksgiving Service for the area’s congregations and residents on Tuesday, November 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church. St. Tim’s own Father Steve Rice will be providing the sermon at the service and some of our choir members will be providing their musical skills. A food donation will be taken for Crisis Control Ministry and the St. Tim’s parish has been asked to bring canned tuna.
worship—Wednesday Holy Eucharist with Healing Prayer
The Wednesday Holy Eucharist with Healing Prayer Service meets at NOON each Wednesday in the chapel to allow anyone working the opportunity to worship during his or her lunch hour. A light soup lunch will be served following the service.

learn—Adult Confirmation Classes
Bishop Curry will be at St. Timothy’s for the 10:30 a.m. service on December 13 for confirmation. If you have questions about confirmation, the Episcopal Church, St. Timothy’s, Christianity and more, there are three more adult classes available on succeeding Sundays: November 22, 29 and December 6 at 4 p.m. in the Church Library in Gribbin Building. Don’t miss the annual St. Tim’s Advent Wreath Workshop on Sunday, November 29 at 9:15 a.m. in Drake Hall. At this church event for all ages, you’ll learn about Advent while making your own wreath to take home. A light breakfast will be served. Candles and other supplies will be furnished for free. Did you know that God owns it all? Once you embrace that principle, it changes how you handle money. Join us for a 45-minute preview on November 29 at noon, December 9 at 6:30 p.m. or December 13 at noon. Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University is coming to St. Timothy’s. The 13-week course starts January 10, 2010 and runs until April 4. The classes are two hours long, 6:30-8:30 p.m. For the cost of $99, you will learn how to follow God’s plan to beat debt, build wealth and keep your own economy thriving. connect—Advent Quiet Day
All are invited to an Advent Quiet on Saturday, December 5, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the ECW Hall. Take time away to refresh your mind, body and spirit to prepare for His coming. A light continental-style breakfast will be served (coffee, tea, juice, bagels and rolls) as well as a simple soup luncheon (vegetarian included). There is no charge. connect—Women's Retreat
The St. Timothy’s Women’s retreat is an annual event where all the wonderful women of our parish are invited to attend a gathering for fellowship, spiritual growth and rejuvenation. The retreat for 2010 will be held February 5-7, 2010 at the Laurel Ridge Camp, Conference and Retreat Center located near West Jefferson, North Carolina. Christie Barker, a Deacon at Trinity Episcopal in Statesville, will facilitate our retreat and teach us about important women in Christian history using prayer, Bible study and small group activities. If you are interested in more details about the 2010 retreat, please print a registration form here, fill it out and return it to the church with $100 deposit. Order forms for purchasing Christmas poinsettias for decorating the Christmas Eve and Day services at St. Tim’s are available in the kiosk in Drake Hall, in the Gribbin Lobby and online by clicking here. The poinsettias can be given in honor or memory of a loved one and cost $13 each. Deadline for purchase is December 6.

Once again it is time for the annual Thanksgiving Offering to benefit Thompson Child & Family Focus (formerly Thompson Children’s Home). The date of this historic and critically important offering throughout the Episcopal churches of North Carolina is this Sunday, November 22. Look for the purple offering envelopes in the pews and in the kiosk in Drake Hall. Make your check payable to St. Timothy’s and mark for “Thompson Focus”. Please return your envelopes in the offering plate or to the parish office by November 22.
serve—Charitable Donations for 2009
Did you know that if you are an IRA owner, age 70½ or over, you can directly transfer tax-free up to $100,000 per year to an eligible charitable organization such as St. Tim’s through 2009? The funds must be contributed directly by the IRA trustee to St. Tim’s. Amounts so transferred are not taxable and no deduction is available for the amount given. Also, please plan ahead for the end of the year. Donors must deliver checks on or by December 31 in order to claim a charitable contribution deduction for 2009. Checks that are placed in the church offering during the first worship service in 2010 will not qualify even if the check is predated to 2009 or was actually written in 2009. Only checks that are written, mailed and postmarked in 2009 are deductible in 2009 though not received until 2010.

Crisis Control Ministry will benefit from a Community Shopping Event at World Villages on Thursday, November 19, 6-8 p.m. Fifteen percent of the total sales from the event will be donated to Crisis Control. World Villages is located at 37 Miller Street, next to Whole Foods Market. Refreshments will be served.

CHILDREN’S NEWS ...
LEARN—This Sunday, November 22, the preschoolers and primary school-aged children gather at 9:15 a.m. in the Chapel for singing before being dismissed with their teachers to their classes. At 10:15 a.m. the preschool children move to room C2 for Preschool Worship and the primary children attend Children’s Chapel in the chapel. The primary children enter church at the 10:30 a.m. offertory to join their parents. Preschool children enter to meet their parents in the pews at the 10:30 a.m. communion hymns. All children are welcomed at anytime for Sunday School and worship! Contact Pam Carter (pam@sttimothys.ws).
LEARN—Each Wednesday night the children have Bible study with the Way of the Child program for K-2nd grades meeting at 5:15-6 p.m. in room C-2. Families will eat dinner together, 6-6:30 p.m. then the 3rd-5th graders have their Way of the Child class at 6:30-7:15 p.m. in room C-2 and the preschoolers have Bible in Action in room C-3, 6:30-7:15 p.m. Contact Pam Carter (pam@sttimothys.ws).
