serve—Youth Fund-raiser Kick-off This Sunday
This Sunday, February 7 the youth of St. Timothy’s will begin a “Filler-up for Navajo” fund-raiser by passing out bottles of SoBe® Lifewater generously donated by Pepsi to the congregation following the services. Each recipient is asked to empty the bottle, wash it out and return it filled with a monetary donation by March 7. All money received will benefit the youth summer mission trip to Navajo Land. serve—LEM Camp Rescheduled
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) is a corps of lay servants who feel called to serve at the altar during celebrations of the Holy Eucharist. LEMs are licensed by the bishop to administer the sacrament on Sundays and they provide invaluable assistance to the clergy during the service. Serving as a LEM is a great honor and a calling. Have you ever wondered if God is calling you to serve as a LEM? Are you simply curious about what this is all about? Sunday, February 14 at 4 p.m., there will be a "LEM Camp" in the church to share information about the ministry of LEMs and a demonstration of what LEMs do. You don't have to commit to come and see. The youth in 7th-9th grades have the opportunity to attend the New Beginnings retreat in Georgia the weekend of February 26-28. worship—Ash Wednesday Service
The Ash Wednesday service will be February 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the church. A light dinner of soup will be served at 5:45 p.m. in Drake Hall. Regular Wednesday classes will be postponed that day but will resume the following Wednesday on February 24.
worship—Winston-Salem Youth Chorus to Sing
The Winston-Salem Youth Chorus will be singing during the 10:30 a.m. worship service on February 14. You won’t want to miss these very talented young people as they share their gift.
worship—Wednesday Holy Eucharist with Healing Prayer
The Wednesday Holy Eucharist with Healing Prayer Service meets at NOON each Wednesday in the chapel to allow anyone working the opportunity to worship during his or her lunch hour. Please make plans to attend.

learn—Adult Spiritual Growth Classes
Adults have a several choices for Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings. A class studying Max Lucado’s “Eye of the Storm” meets in room D1 (contact Gerry Link, 602-2587) while a class for women, meeting in ECW Hall, discusses the Book of Acts (contact Lea Thullbery, lea@sttimothys.ws). Church Chat meets in Drake Hall at 9:30 a.m. for a lively, interactive study of the weekly lectionary Gospel reading (contact Beth Morphis, 765-5262). On Wednesdays, adults can attend Bible study in ECW Hall at 8:15 a.m. or in Drake Hall at 6:30 p.m., both led by Father Steve (765-0294).

The Episcopal Church Women at St. Tim’s will hold an indoor yard sale on February 20, 7 a.m.-noon in Drake Hall. The women will be accepting donations on Friday, February 19, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. only. CHILDREN’S NEWS ...
LEARN—This Sunday, February 7, the preschoolers and primary school-aged children gather at 9:15 a.m. in the Chapel for music before dismissing to classrooms for Bible lessons. At 10:15 a.m. the preschool children move to room C2 for Preschool Worship and the primary children attend Children’s Chapel in the chapel. The primary children enter church at the 10:30 a.m. offertory to join their parents. Preschool children enter to meet their parents in the pews at the 10:30 a.m. communion hymns. All children are welcomed at anytime for Sunday School and worship! Contact Pam Carter (pam@sttimothys.ws).
LEARN—Each Wednesday night the children have Bible study with the Way of the Child program for K-2nd grades meeting at 5:15-6 p.m. in room C-2. Families will eat dinner together, 6-6:30 p.m. then the 3rd-5th graders have their Way of the Child class at 6:30-7:15 p.m. in room C-2 and the preschoolers have Bible in Action in room C-3, 6:30-7:15 p.m. Contact Pam Carter (pam@sttimothys.ws).

LEARN—Sunday School for all youth in grades 6th-12th meets on the Drake Hall stage at 9:15 a.m. for biblical discussion relating to everyday topics.
LEARN—The youth in 6th-12th grades are invited to meet each Wednesday in room D-1 in Drake at 6:30-7:30 p.m. for discussion based on the Bible’s lectionary selections.
LEARN—EYC for the youth in 6th-12th grades this Sunday, February 7 will meet together at 6 p.m. at the Bergstone’s for a Super Bowl Party. Bring a 2-liter drink or snack food to share.
WORSHIP—All high school youth are invited to meet on Fridays, 7:30-8 a.m. for Prayer Breakfast. Devotion begins at 7:55 a.m. The February location will be Biscuitville on Robinhood Road near Peacehaven Road. If school is canceled for the day, so is the breakfast.

2010 Vestry Nominees
Alice Elsner
Alice Elsner is a lifelong Episcopalian and was married for 27 years to Harold, an Episcopal Priest. She taught Pre-K for more than 25 years and worked in the Accounting Department of the Diocese of Southeast Florida before moving to North Carolina. Alice has been a member of St. Tim’s since 2005 and has enjoyed becoming a part of the parish family. Alice is a Stephen Minister, LEM, Convention Delegate and a member of the Worship Commission. She volunteers with Vacation Bible School during the summer and weekly in the office as well as with other activities at church. Her vision for St. Tim’s is “a transformation in each of us as Christ’s love and light shines through us to those in our community and the world.”
John Guglielmi
John Guglielmi and his wife, Chiquita, have been members of St. Timothy’s for nine years. They have two grown children and seven grandchildren and enjoy traveling and watching both Duke football and basketball.
John has served on two vestries—St. Paul’s Wilkesboro and Emmanuel Church Harrisonburg, VA—and served both as Senior and Junior Warden at St. Paul’s. John has also served on both the Executive Council and the Episcopal Foundation of the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina. He was elected twice to be a delegate to General Convention. Presently at St. Tim’s, John is a member of the Finance Committee and a LEM.
John would feel it would be a honor to be elected to be a member of St. Timothy’s Vestry.
Skip Larson
Skip Larson has been a member of St. Timothy’s for 50 years. In that period of time he has been a member of the choir, served as a LEM and is currently a member of the Worship Commission. He has also served on the Vestry before, with one of those years as Junior Warden. Skip believes the coming years will bring great changes and challenges to our congregation and he looks forward to those situations. “I have never been prouder to be a member of this congregation and of the growth and enthusiasm that I now see happening at St. Tim’s,” he says.
Skip is married to Jean—31 years!—and they live in Clemmons. They have one son Scott who lives and works in Charlotte and who is getting married in May. Their daughter lives in Oregon with her husband and the Larson’s beautiful three-year-old granddaughter.
Skip has recently retired after 20 years as a systems support analyst at WFU School of Medicine. He has been volunteering two days a week as an interviewer at Crisis Control Ministry and one morning a week in the office at St. Tim’s.
Amy Mann
Amy Mann has been a member at St. Timothy’s for over a year and a half. She currently serves as the chairperson for the Evangelism Commission, is co-leader of the Devout Stout fellowship group and taught Summer Brigade Sunday school. Amy has prior employment experience she feels will complement the Vestry. These positions include parish administrator for Trinity Episcopal Church and assistant to the director of Chattahoochee Christian Preschool. She is currently employed as a licensed insurance professional with State Farm Insurance.
Amy is married to Travis Mann and has three children Tanner, Ashlyn and Aubrey. She is also grateful to be a part of the St. Tim’s family and the welcoming atmosphere of the parish. Amy was baptized as an infant in the Episcopal Church and has returned full circle to the Episcopal Church after being confirmed and married in the Catholic Church.

Nick Meacham
Having grown up in the Church of England Nick Meacham understands the benefits of having a strong church within a community and working together on outreach, education and growth in the church.
For the past five years Nick has served as a Communications Coordinator for NC BioNetwork. Prior to this, Nick who hails from England was the youngest politician elected as a member of Council for a metropolitan area. Nick served on the following cabinets; Health, Youth and Cultural Services, Urban Planning, Education, Lifelong Learning and e-Governance Cabinet Advisory Committees. Nick also served as a School Governor at Lightwoods Junior School in Oldbury England.
He currently serves on the Executive committee of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce Technology Council, and is co chair of the W-S Technology Council PR Committee. Nick serves on numerous committees including editorial advisor and article writer for a national life science magazine and strategic planning. Nick’s education includes a B.A. degree in Political Science from London Guildhall University and a Masters degree in Education from Western Carolina University.
Nick and his wife Ann relocated from the Asheville area to Winston-Salem late last summer.
Cathryn Raines
Cathryn Raines was born in Baldwin, New York (on Long Island) and lived there for 18 years. Her education includes a BS in Conservation and a BS in Recreation Resources Administration both from NC State University. She also has a MBA from Bryan School of Business, UNCG.
Cathryn married Mark Raines on March 14, 1998 and has two children: Christopher Kirkham (21, senior at App State) and Matthew Raines (10, 5th grader at Whitaker). She works full-time at Hanesbrands as Office Manager for the CEO.
Cathryn has been at St. Timothy’s since 2003. Her current and past activities include children’s Sunday school teacher, secretary for ECW, member of search committee for the Director of Music Ministries, choir member, women’s retreat chairperson, Day of Caring participant, hospitality co-chair for ECW and Sinner’s Dinner participant. Her personal interests include cooking and eating (not necessarily in that order!), walking, hiking, travel, gardening (sort of!), and she loves to watch old movies. She is a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and tries to exercise several times a week either at the YMCA or outdoors.
