I'm New!

First of all, welcome!  We can't say that enough.  We are honored that you are on our website and are looking to learn more about our family.  Hopefully this page will answer some basic questions about St Timothy's and how to be a part of our church family.  If you have a question that is not answered here, please feel free to contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Your First Sunday

Which Service?

There are three worship services on Sunday.  One at 7:30am, one at 9am and one at 11am.  They are the same and they are different.  In a nutshell, here's the difference.

Rite I - 7:30am in the Chapel

8am is Rite I, which is "Episco-speak" for a celebration of the Holy Eucharist that uses language in older Prayer Books.  If you like worship that has thee/thou/hast, etc., then you might like Rite I.  Rite I is a smaller congregation (around 70 worshippers) and there is less music.  The sermon is the same.  This service lasts about 50 minutes.

Rite II - 9am in the Church

9am is Rite II.  As you might imagine, Rite II uses language that is common to everyday speech.  At Rite II, we have a choral support from a soloist or instrumentalist (which means more music) and a larger worshipping congregation (around 185).  This service lasts about an hour.  You may see a lot of children at 9am and you won't smell incense (unless it's lingering from last week at 11am!)

Rite I or II - Solemn High Mass | 11am in the Church

11 am is Rite I or II.  At this service, we have a full choir (which means more music), a larger worshipping congregation (around 185), and more ceremonial which will include incense (more smells and bells) and chanting.  A beautiful service that incorporates all the senses, this service lasts about an hour.

Childcare

A professionally staffed nursery is provided at the 9am and 11am services.  The nursery is directed underneath the church and you are given a pager in the event your child needs mom or dad.

Breakfast

A freshly made hot breakfast breakfast is available 8am to 9am in Drake Hall.

What to Expect?

If you have never been to an Episcopal Church before, this might be a delightfully different experience for you.  If you are from a more liturgical church (Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Orthodox), worship at St Timothy's will feel familiar.  Whether or not it feels strange or like the back of your hand, please know that our sole purpose in worship is to offer praise and thanksgiving to God.  No one is checking to see who is doing it "right" or not.  For that matter, there is no "right" way we do things.  Our desire is for you to commune with Christ and share his peace with our family in faith.  Worship need not, and should not, be intimidating or cumbersome.  For some light-hearted videos we've made to this effect, watch these.
