All are welcome to sing in the 9am mass Parish Choir. We rehearse regularly on Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm in the Choir Room and Sundays at 8:15am in the Choir Loft (September-June). This choir sings weekly for the Sunday 9:00am mass and for occasional evening services and masses including Advent Lessons & Carols, Christmas Eve mass, and Maundy Thursday. Music reading ability and some experience with choral singing are helpful but not required. Rehearsals and musical leadership are wonderful ways to grow your life in Christ, and we hope that you will join us.

The 11am mass Schola Choir is open by audition. We rehearse regularly with the Parish Choir on Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm (and often until 8pm) in the Choir Room and Sundays at 10:15am in the Choir Loft (September-June). This choir sings weekly for the Sunday 11am high mass, for evening services and masses including Evensongs, Advent Lessons & Carols, and feast day masses. To schedule an audition, contact Director of Music Christin Barnhardt (christin@, 336-765-0294 ext. 306).

Our Choral Scholars are local music students and professionals who support St Timothy’s choral program by providing musical and vocal leadership in our choirs. They serve as cantors and have opportunities to sing solos and conduct the choir. Contact Director of Music Christin Barnhardt (christin@, 336-765-0294 ext. 306) if you are interested in auditioning for a choral scholar position.

Children and youth in grades 3-12 may audition to attend St Timothy’s Choir School. They rehearse Mondays from 4:30-5:30pm and Wednesday evenings from 4:30-5:30pm (grades 6-12) or 6-6:30pm (grades 3-5) (September to June). These Choristers receive training in music theory and vocal technique. They sing once or twice a month for the 9:00am or 11:00am mass and for several evening masses and Evensongs throughout the year. The St Timothy’s Choristers participate in regional RSCM Festivals and in Summer of 2016 were part of a week-long residency at Canterbury Cathedral. They sang Evensong at the National Cathedral and Virginia Theological Seminary in the Summer of 2017, for the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC, in 2018, and at the Parish Church of St Helena, Beaufort, SC, in 2019. They will be part of St Timothy’s Choir in Residence at Wells Cathedral, England in July of 2020.

Early childhood music and movement classes for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with an adult caregiver are offered on Tuesdays 9:15-9:45am and Wednesdays 5-5:30pm in the Children’s Music Room. Sharing our belief that God loves us provides the central theme for the songs and activities in each lesson as we experience music through singing and vocal play, moving, listening, exploring musical concepts, and playing musical instruments.

Meet once a month 15 minutes prior to the 9am and 11am masses for some fun vocal warm-ups and to review a few hymns for the day. Help lead congregational singing from wherever you sit in the pews.

St Timothy's is fortunate to have many parishioners who are accomplished instrumentalists. They frequently play in mass and contribute greatly to the beauty of our worship. David Bergstone leads our Brass Ensemble which is made up of parishioners and rehearses on Saturday mornings. We also often collaborate with local professional instrumentalists to accompany major choral works.

Rehearse occasional Wednesdays at 7pm to sing for monthly Sunday 3:30pm Evensongs.
