Saturday’s at St Timothy’s

a respite for those experiencing homelessness

Saturdays at St. Timothy's is a new endeavor provided by St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, which has been hosting a winter emergency shelter for women, under the umbrella of City With Dwellings (CWD), for the past 10 years. As CWD is no longer hosting the overflow shelter, the people of St. Tim's want to continue the relationships we have built with women experiencing homelessness.

Saturdays at St. Timothy's will be open:

  • December 2 and 16

  • January 6 and 20

  • February 3 and 17

  • March 2 and 16

We will offer two respite, overnight Saturdays from 8 am to 8 am each month from December through March. Our guests will be transported to and from St. Timothy's via a CWD van and driver. They will receive three hot meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in addition to the opportunity to rest, watch TV, socialize, work on arts and crafts, play games, and enjoy community in a safe and warm environment.

As CWD is only opening a White Flag Shelter when the weather is truly frigid, many women experiencing homelessness are sleeping in tents, parks, and abandoned buildings or floating from couch to couch. The goal of Saturdays at St. Timothy's is to expand the number of nights we open our doors. With the cost for transportation and payment for professional monitors to stay overnight, money is our biggest need at this point. Parishioners can select homeless ministry online or write a note in a check memo to ensure the money goes toward helping those who are most vulnerable.
